John C. Siegesmund . Mr. Siegesmund is a graduate of the University of Rochester (B.A., 1969), Stanford University (J.D., 1972), and the University of Denver (Masters of Taxation, 1979). His practice emphasizes tax law and tax dispute resolution, particularly with respect to business transactions. He has worked extensively with partnerships and limited liability companies and was the draftsman of the Tax Matters exhibit to the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation’s Model Mining Joint Venture, which is widely used by mining companies in the western United States and Canada. He also has had extensive experience with tax-free mergers and acquisitions, limited liability entities, like-kind exchanges, international transactions, corporate formations and liquidations, S corporations, charitable organizations, and state local tax matters.

Mr. Siegesmund has been an adjunct professor in the University of Denver’s Masters of Taxation program, and has written and lectured extensively on a variety of tax-related issues. Mr. Siegesmund has authored "Working With Form 5: A Tax Lawyer's Perspective," 37 Rocky Mtn. Min. L. Inst. 1992; "An Owner's Manual for Exhibit C," 33 Rocky Mtn. Min. L. Inst. 1988; and "Demystifying the Tax Aspects of Development and Depletion," 31 Rocky Mtn. Min. L. Inst. 1986.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Siegesmund was a director in the law firm of Parcel, Mauro, Hultin, Spaanstra P.C., and a partner in the law firm of Holland & Hart (where he was chairman of the firm’s tax department).
